I have never had a bad valentine's day but I have always thought it was a gimmick. I mean from the age of 16 when I had my first real valentine's day night out with my boyfriend at the time I have just thought it is a lie.
This is how I see it why is there one day dedicated to showing love to your special some one and if you don't then what you two have isn't real or he or she is not really into you. I love to give gifts because it is Monday or Wednesday or any day just because not because society tells you to. This is the same way I feel about mother's day and father's day. I believe we should show our appreciation or love of other through out the year not just because it is valentine's day.

I think it's over-rated.

I've had wonderful times on Feb.14. I am in love, I have been in love and I know how it feels to be in love. For me, it's not about "hating" (which people over the age of 19 should not use) on couples that are hand in hand. Good for them. My view about the day is that everyday is the 14th. Everyday one should share how much they love and appreciate those in their lives that matter.

Why does someone expect something because this is the day society has dictated you should go above your normal antics?

Why do folk get mad when they DON'T get something? *Bitch, cuz it ain't yo burfday*

Simmer down. It's really not that serious...........to me. I find it quite amusing that the couples who put on because it's Feb. 14th are the same mo fo's that argue, fight and step outside of their relationships the remaining 364 days of the year.

I've had good ones and I have had lonely ones (well not too lonely cause me and my girls would go out, lol). But I just like the idea of 'love is in the air'. I mean I spend just as much time with him anyway that I will on Saturday. I have always done nice things for him anyway, so 1 day isn't going to change that. But I just love the idea of the day of love.

Now b/c this weekend is also All-star weekend, I am trying to incorporate watching the 3 point shoot-out and slam dunk contest into our Sat night.

But I do love the extra mile he will go this weekend, just to see a smile on my face (sort of like he did last weekend, lol). I have no expectations, so everything will be appreciated and loved just the same.

Its just another commercial holiday for people to spend money and go all out. I honestly forgot that it was Valentine's Day this Saturday until someone reminded me. Please..its not that serious..although this year I feel like busting some windows on Vday..

Definitely overrated, too commercialized just like every other holiday...all designed for the industries that promote this nonsense to make a shyt-load of money off of us

I think it's sweet to celebrate and be acknowledged but it is small private gestures added to the special treatment you receive all year that makes it mean something...

I say K.I.S.S. - stay home have an intimate dinner, take a bubble bath together, give a massage...all stuff you should do fairly regularly anyway just put an extra sexy twist on it that day...no pressure, everybody is happy & nobody went broke :-D

Yo....I'm with everyone who hates Valentine's Day because of the superficiality/commercialism associated with it. How are you going to let society tell you when and how to show your significant other love? Personally, I think all of this pink and red splattered about is sickening and there's NOTHING worse than seeing a dude standing on a street corner waiting for the light to change with a big @$$ red heart balloon looking like a gay delivery man. Now, I DO think it is VERY cute when the kids give each other valentines and I KNOW it's the bomb to get stuff in high school because the holiday is actually more on that level. As we mature, however, TRUE love should be past the point of having to prove love on the 14th with all the gimmicks to EVERYONE ELSE!! The grown and sexy KNOW how to celebrate the occasion and it has NOTHING to do with a crowded restaraunt or those damn goofy balloons!! A perfect night for me? Cooking dinner for my man, spending quality time that maybe our busy schedules don't always allow for, and giving up some of Vicky's secrets!

I happen to really like Valentine's Day! I think it's sweet that people get all lovey dovey, and buy big teddy bears and stuff...lol. Yeah, I'm lame, and spreading love should be an everyday thing, but I honestly don't see anything wrong with it. I get/give love everyday, I just get/give a little extra on Valentine's day :)
