lol i don't even want to listen to it for the first time. but as far as r&b that i like, i dig 1. j. holiday: his 2nd cd is far better than his first. 2. the-dream: i have his album on repeat everyday. a lot of it is silly but ur not hearing anything like it out there. his lyrics r definitely one of a kind 3. lloyd: i can only give him kudos as far as 'lessons in love' is concerned but i think people slept on this one. it was good from start to finish, i liked the writing as well as the production on there. 4. estelle 5. solange 6. lily allen 7. Musiq Soulchild 8. Maxwell
songs - J. Holiday, Forever Aint Enough, Don't Go, Magic Man...The-Dream, Right Side Of My Brain, Fancy, Mr. Yeah...Estelle - Come Over, Musiq - sobeautiful, ...Maxwell - Pretty Wings ok feel like i'm babbling now lol

I agree R&B has taken a hit as of late. Everything is on repeat. The one artist that I am feeling still would be The Dream. His is the only R&B CD as of late that I can continue to pop in and enjoy. To expand off the idea of The Dream, many of the songs he has wrote for other artists are good too... Birthday Sex is my choice of song right now (and to be honest I do like the Fabo remix to divert from hating on the R&B/Hip Hop mix... but Fabo seems to always be alright on those types of tracks). I will wait and see what else I hear from Jeremiah, but as of now I believe most credit for that song belongs to Dream... other than him though R&B is slacking... What happened to the Dru Hill, 112, Jodeci, JE, Ginuwine, Usher music... seriously there are no more good R&B groups for sure.

THANK GOD for the return of maxwell. other honorable mentions: chrisette michelle, jazmine sullivan, musiq soulchild, eric benet (his last song); those are all that come to mind off the bat! for a more alternative popish kind of sound Ryan Leslie, although he is repetitive and simple, can on occasion hit on some alright sounds, that can be called innovative, but meh! :-S
wake me up when dangelo and Lauryn come back ive been saying for the last couple years that R&B is on its way out...

I am straight up a old school R'n'b chick. Too much of the same these days, if there is a hot producer everyone has to work with him and the same stuff gets recycled. I'm listening a track i just found on Necole Bitchie by Dawn Richard "train wreck" love it. Glad Maxwell is back, love Musiq, chrisette michelle, jazmine sullivan

I trust you :-) so I'll pass on listening to the Johnta joint...
I love you for writing this cause I was really beginning to think my disdain for some of the the shyt out now was a sign of old age...LOL...you know when your parents get to that point where they can't/don't appreciate/understand the kinda music you like
But even my teenage dau complains about the shyt played on the radio - you know it's bad when a teenage girl HATES Jeremih's Birthday Sex
Love Jennifer Hudson, Robin Thicke, Joe, Keyshia Cole (esp Trust), Raphael Saadiq - Never Give You Up, India & Musiq - Chocolate High, Maxwell - Pretty Wings to name a few

Umm this is not great. But, Johnta is a great writer and good singer. He has written some timeless songs like "Sweet lady" and "He wasn't man enough" out of all his songs why choose one of his worst. He is a better singer than the dream, ne yo and sean garrett for the singer/songwriter artist. Tell me that " I Need a Girl" by Trey songz is mediocre yep he wrote it and you can find the demo w/him on it on the net. I'm frustrated that mediocre male singers with catchy ongs get all the shine while one's with substance are always criticized.

I think that Lloyds Lessons in Love was a solid R&B album start to finish but a lot of people slept hard...I still bump that
